They all look like fine upstanding citizens! A great representation of society in general!
And they shoplifted because...?
How many are drug addicts? Will the court drug test them before they appear?
How many are kleptomaniacs? Will the court screen them?
How many are truly strictly only poor people who stole because they thought they couldn't afford? Will the court require a Social Services assessement?
Are they just idiots who steal? The other screening tools may give the answer.
Let's be a little more proactive here and look for the causes, not just punish because we're too lazy or disconnected to care.
No other crime in town, Babs? Or is the Mayor keeping you quiet on that one?
