I didn't know what race this person was, but it is sad, no matter what the race - prayers go out to the family of this individual. And to the media, shame on you for ignoring the fact that this did happen.
It appears to me the black community has already made this a race issue. What kind of evidence do they have to suggest that this was a murder hanging , and by whites at that.
They may have opened a door they can't close.
Why is the police force not making a statement as to the circumstance of this event. I can understand being sensitive to the family of the victim by not posting a name...but the circumstances would go far to defuse the rumors of foul play. So sorry for the family.

Not every death is newsworthy. If it were a murder, it would be reported. If it were a suicide, probably not be reported. If an investigation is done and it is found to be a murder, then it may be reported. Anyone that is distraught enough to want to end their life, will do anything to accomplish that process. Throwing a rope over a tree limb, climbing the tree, tying a noose, place around the neck and then jumping off the tree to a hanging position. Unless anyone saw it happen and was there to see how it was done...then nooone knows exactly how it happened.
When and exactly where did this happen? Im just hearing about this.

Even if it was a murder, there could be dozens of scenarios that have NOTHING to do with race.
But it appears to be a suicide.
A statement from police saying "We are investigating the apparent suicide of a male/female on Saturday, Feb 14.
The family has been notified. Further information will be forthcoming" would go a long way to dispelling this apparent media blackout (no racial undertones intended). There is a group in Salisbury looking for a 'cause to stand up for' and the police silence is feeding their imaginations.
Again, I'll repeat, did the media cover the citizen in China being run over by a tank? Did they cover Whitney Houston and then her Daughter?
Regardless of a persons popularity, this is news.

Didn't WBOC and the DT's cover the guy locked up in his home who eventually took his own life? YES, because I was there when they were filming it and taking pictures.
There are several searches in the area every year for people suspected of commiting suicide. Cadaver dogs and search teams are called in. I think the tendency is to do it far away from any chance of being seen and stopped. The somewhat public location of this is raising questions and yes, that's news.
This may not get posted but why do blacks always cry racism? Its amazing that when initially reported it was a white female that committed suicide now because it's a black male it must be murder!! Smh!
The actual length of time this person had been there when found is of the utmost importance.That would determine if it had just happened and someone happened along before the person or persons responsible could cut him/her down.If this was a murder,chances are those responsible were still around somewhere close when the body was discovered,unless it was a statement which an earlier commentor made,or suicide.

So, that someone would lift the body 15 feet high up the tree, in freezing temps on Valentine's day nearby the mall, wow, really? Next, I don't any female that would climb the tree 15 feet high especially when freezing. Sounds like a work of determined male. Don't expect WBOC or WMDT report about it, but Police Dept should of came out with the statement, acknowledging it, and ask for public help. There is water too much confusion about this, so they need to clarify it. My prayers go to family.

Suicides happen all the time around here, almost a daily occurrence. A man shot himself yesterday or the day before and was found by his nurse on E. William Street. Some people just don't want to live anymore. If I have terminal cancer I would end my suffering also. God Bless Dr. Kavorkian.

First of all no lynching would take place in Salisbury in broad daylight. No white person in their right mind would carry on a lynching near numerous shopping centers and a new apartment complex. You racist people need to quit feeling sorry for yourselves and get a job. You have way to much time on your hands.
Because of course if it was a murder then a white person must have been responsible. Because blacks aren't killing each other all over every day right? The black on black crime rate isn't higher than the white on black crime rate right? I feel very sorry for this victim and his family but my goodness why does everything have to immediately be a call for race retaliation?

However , they may have done this many years ago. I didn't have any slaves working for me , nor did any of my family.

It's called an investigation. In questionable circumstances, which this initially was, the police would put out as little information as possible until an autopsy has been done. It's supposed to keep the panic and assumptions down. Fat lot of good that did.
