A Marine Donated a Flag to a School; What Someone Did to It is Appalling

First Sergeant Reginald Daniels, a Marine, proudly served his country during three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He loves America and takes pride in the U.S. flag. So, when he discovered that the Brattain Early Learning Center in Springfield, Oregon did not have a flag, a discovery made as he and two other Marines were building a playground for the school, he decided to do something about it.

Daniels bought the school a flag and taught them how to properly raise and lower it.

One day, Daniels got a call from the school letting him know that someone burned the flag and left it at half-staff. Daniels said, “Some of the teachers kind of teared up a little bit and then they took me in to the back room and showed me the flag that was burned. I was lost for words to see that someone had pulled the flag down off the pole and burned it.”

Daniels had more to say to the individual who vandalized the flag by burning it. He stated, “I love this country and what it stands for. I know everybody has their views, but I think everybody can have something that they can look proudly at, and that’s – I take pride in the flag. Someone out there thinks that this is OK. And this is the exact reason why I wear this uniform, so that – to show them that it’s not.”

“What someone did to it is appalling” WRONG – the burning of the flag is what’s so great about this country.

The burning of the flag is why all of us should be proud to be Americans and that we live in the United States of America.
