Recreational areas in Carroll, Charles and Worcester counties will soon obtain funding through Program Open Space. Governor Martin O’Malley and the Board of Public Works approved the projects at today’s meeting in Annapolis.
“For nearly eight years, we have made it our continued mission to ensure Maryland families have access to the best possible recreation opportunities,” said Governor O’Malley. “The Program Open Space projects put in place today are just another step toward ensuring every citizen can safely and easily enjoy the great outdoors.”
Charles County will receive $630,000 in federal grant funding to use for the Port Tobacco Park acquisition. The county previously received $305,000 in Program Open Space funds for this project.
