I know a local family that had a Wicomico county teacher move in next door. What a nightmare.
He was out on the front lawn drunk in his underwear, other episodes included drunken shouting matches with girl friends during parties.
Fortunately most of the teachers are not drunken slobs with no integrity.

maybe you could control who your child becomes friends with on Facebook/Instagram? Its not the governments (WCBOE)responsibility to police your kids internet history nor that of its teachers. It is YOUR job as parents to know what your kids are doing. Isn't creating a policy to deal with this another way of making the government more in control?? By the way I despise the BOE and think that Johnny F. needs to hit the road.

This could go down hill rapidly. Once respect is lost.the classroom is no longer under control. You cannot be "friends" with your students. Very unprofessional if this occurred. Hopefully the BOE will correct the situations. Temptation for children is too great already without teachers adding to the problem.

Instead of building expensive high tech schools, let's maintain what we have and do something novel - like concentrate on the education in the classroom. Do you know we are 19 in the state for quality education? It wasn't that long ago that we were in the top five. What good has building new schools done if the kids aren't learning anything?

You're an idiot. Read the damn letter again. Or are you a teacher?

With regard to personal conduct, the school division does indeed have a policy thinly veiled within a teacher's contract with regard to moral turpitude. I will tell you that it is very rarely enforced (our most recent example is Mr. Nunzio of Prince Street and his situation regarding his DUI, which I feel the school system would have been well within their rights to dismiss him, however that is another matter.) The conduct of a school teacher or administrator far exceeds the personal conduct requirements of nearly every other profession and I am absolutely baffled that this has not been addressed at some level. to those concerned parents, I would refer them to ignore the local channels and move directly to either the Maryland State Department of Education or the Office of Civil Rights directly.

Is this letter over four years old? Why publish it now?

I skipped this post initially because there was no caption. This is disturbing and should not be tolerated by the board of education. I couldn't agree more with 12:48, a line has been crossed. Teachers should not be friends with their students. This does not provide an environment conducive to learning. Isn't there a policy about this? Something is seriously wrong!

I agree that this post should have been captioned. It would be interesting to see the responses. I personally believe that teachers should never become involved in social networking sites with students. It makes me wonder about the classroom setting is in this particular class. I can only imagine. I bet students ask this teacher questions such as how was your weekend? How were those drinks? Did you get drunk? That is exactly what this teacher is asking for. It is unprofessional. Joe, I believe you should make parents aware of this. You should ask parents what they think about teacher and student relationships on social media. I would love to see the responses.

teachers do no wrong. Ask the guy standing trial in wicomico County for voicing his concerns over the phone about a teacher who left bruises on children including his. this man made several attempts to remedy the situation and was ignored by the Board of Education and the school.keep thinking that teachers do no wrong around here. That is why we have had several arrested for sexual misconduct from teachers in the last years. Do you think that they don't abuse them? There's more to abused and sexual. This article is exactly how student and teacher relations get started. And not in a professional way.

the point of it,..boe does not address problems concerns or anything else like that from parents. Frederickson and his little goofy I believe his name is Turner do with they see fit. They are the law in the wicomico school system. have called the school over and over and the Board of Education and been ignored.. It takes albero to get shit done. Mr Turner if you are truly in charge of the safe schools why would you allow this? Obviously your job needs to go and be replaced with somebody who has common sense. Abuse and potential abuse has got to be stopped. Mr Turner if a teacher has multiple complaints in one year on a teacher do you think all those parents make s*** up? at some point consideration for parents has got to be put into effect.

I had a meeting with him when he was the principal of Del Mar. He caught a teacher in a lie and didn't even reprimand her. This was after the student got in trouble for no reason. The boe and teachers hope cover their tracks.

they are children they know no better. That's why they are teachers to teach them about things like this.

I was on the jury last time they tried him. They're trying him again. Its a misdemeanor charge. Lot of waste. The man was justified and never broke the law according to how it was written. I voted innocent then and hope he is vindicated!

It happens a lot.And when they hire substitute teachers, all bets are off. When I went to my childrens school and saw who was subbing some of the classes,I was dumbfounded.Someone I know for a fact drinks and does drugs with underage kids has no business teaching them.
