Michael Schuette, owner and operator of Outlaw Guns in Anniston, Alabama, has stirred a hornets' nest with his Facebook post on Veterans Day in which he slammed vets saying, "You are NOT hero's." [sic]
Here is a screenshot of his rant:
As the post began making the viral rounds Tuesday, threats to boycott Schuette's business began. According to YellowhammerNews.com, he and his wife are administrators of a 5,000-member Facebook group for their shop. The two also have a separate business website for the hydro-graphics side of their business. That site was also bombarded with threats of boycott.

Boycott for using his freedom of speech?
Hmm. Lets pretend that every American decided that as a rule any other American who pissed off another would be subject to complete exile from the country. No one could associate with them, buy from them, etc.
How many would use the Freedom of Speech?
Zero.
So how can we be pro free speech and at the first sign of being offended seek to destroy the person?
Hell, what he said is the truth.
And the word "hero" is overused and means nothing anymore.
Boycotting is their freedom speech. Your are free to say what you want and free to suffer the consequences if dealing in the public realm. Just ask a former NBA owner.
A bit over the top, but as an Honorably Discharged Vietnam-era veteran, I never FELT like a "hero". Just a soldier.
And "hero" is certainly used too much.
Putting a uniform on does NOT make anyone a hero.
It makes them a volunteer.
And, I can't remember ANY "conflict" we've been involved in since WWII where we've had soldiers fighting for OUR rights. Its usually for oil and corporate profits, but when they start chanting "USA!! USA!! USA!!" too many people get caught up in sending their kids to die or be maimed for our "freedom".
The truth hurts, but its the truth, nevertheless.
Wait for someone to do something heroic (like running into a burning building to save a life or running onto a battlefield to get your wounded buddy) before you sling around the word "hero". If not, you demean and insult the REAL heroes of the day.
Nothing wrong with congratulating those who serve in any capacity --- nurses, firefighters, cops, soldiers etc., but calling them all heroes is a bit over the top, too.
I am of the thinking that he is pointing his anger in the wrong direction. Our volunteer servicemen and women aren't calling the shots, our government is. Those young men and women bravely volunteered to stand in Harm's way to protect our Country and Constitution from all enemies, foreign or domestic. What they got is whored out to serve the Commanders in Chiefs' monetary agendas making sure the guns for drugs for money for oil business stayed on track. This results in our Vets coming home disillusioned, disappointed, and missing parts and pieces of their once healthy minds and bodies.
It's not the Vets' fault, it's our Government.
1239... America's bravest . A true keyboard warrior!!!! Get out of momma's basement, put on some pants, and join the rest if us in the real world.
Dam. This must be a coward whom never serve time in the military. You have no idea what the men/women and their family of the military have sacrifice so that you can have the freedom to say STUPID things. The writer is an a-hole. And Joe, your an a-hole for posting this.
I would bet the house that this guy tried to join the military but was either unable to for medical or mental reasons, or was kicked out early for some reason or another. "To all vets"...so WWII vets served no common good? AND THE IDIOT GOES ON TO LIST LAWYERS AS TRUE HEROES!! This man is absolute garbage, he was desperate for attention and he got it. Hope his business dries up completely.
and 12:27 has the freedom to skip English class...which he apparently did...a lot. You know, the one's about the verb tense, apostrophe's, spelling, etc.??
Argue the issue. Coherently.
For the record, 12:39 DEFENDED our rights.
12:39 was busy watching re-reruns of the Third Reich's mass rallies.
1:27 Thank you.
Everyone likes to think that they are fighting on the side of God, the American way and for whats right. But few people possess the ability to view things for what they are. Mostly because the government does such a darn good job of whitewashing everything. As a whole I do not feel that simply serving in the military makes you a hero. I do not think that service men and women view themselves as bad people. But, when the whole situation keeps perpetuating itself through a cycle of violence I simply can not agree with what they do.
Still this person chose a very poor time, or a great time(depending on perspective and his intent) to post this. Obviously he knew people would be pissed off. The question is can you get through your emotions to actually think about the merits for or against what he is claiming, leaving pure uneducated opinion out of it? From the looks of the posts, not likely. Hence the large flock of sheep standing firmly at attention behind their boys in the military.
I've got to agree with 'lmclain' and Michael Schuette here. American's rights have not been defended by our military since WWII.
Our military has only been used to further corporate America and political gain ever since.
In fact, I'm pretty certain that my rights are being stolen from me by some current and ex-military people, Vets, as I sit and write this.
