YMCA Questionnaire

Just learned our local YMCA is raising the rates to cover the cost of the new equipment. I thought the capital fund paid for this??
According to the paperwork behind the counter, it will be 75 a month for a family of 5. I think currently people pay approx 45.
This does not apply if you make 60k or less.

I knew this was going to happen, even after being reassured plenty of times that it wasn't. I currently pay $49 for a family of 5. After trip there on Tuesday to the pool, I really need to reconsider if this is something we will continue to pay for or not. It is definitely not worth $75 a month!!

It is quote a hike, but think of all the family ammenities. Child watch, parents night out, and play dates all provide FREE childcare. Parents night alone saves me $20 on a sitter. Plus the new pool will be super kid friendly. Then the discount offered on any of their programs pretty much finishes out the savings. We basically get a free gym membership out of it since we would be paying for that stuff out of pocket anywhere else. I think singles will probably go towards the cheap purple gym, as I sure would if single, and the family's will be left at the Y. It is pricey. But we are still on the lower end of YMCA cost compared to other areas. I believe it was around 90 where we just moved from. We weren't members so I'm not real sure.

I have reservations about the Village People's costuming in our era of easily bruised feelings!

I quit my membership years ago when the village people hung out on the track and equipment with no respect for other people. I hear this hasn't changed....

It might be $75.00 for a family of 5 but for 2 people (married) you're still considered a family & have to pay family rate. Very high for 2 of us in our late 50's.

8:18 $75 is too much for five people? Your just cheap.

2 people, $75 per month = $1.25 per day per person. Less than a cup of coffee at the convenience store.

5 people, $75 per month = $.50 (fifty cents) per person per day. About the same as ONE trip to the movie theater with two large popcorns and two large drinks for the whole family to share.

Sounds like a good bargain to me.

My question is why the $60,000 income limit? Is that attached to the number of family members?

Here is my thought. If they want to raise the monthly fee which would be the same as the Easton YMCA.
Then I want the same amenities. 2 indoor pools and a heck of a lot more open swim times in the indoor pool. Their times are ridiculous.
I would not say someone was cheap for not wanting to pay the 75. That is just rude.
I am still waiting for some sort of communication from them about the price increase.
