It was a hi-tech plan to smuggle drugs into prison which in the end came a cropper thanks to some very low-tech means - a pair of eyes and a wire.
A gang thought they had found the perfect way to bypass the walls of a Dublin jail when they brought in the services of a state-of-the art drone to deliver their contraband.
Complete with four rotor blades for superb manoeuvrability and a mounted video camera, the so-called quadcopter was flown into the yard of Wheatfield Prison where it was met by inmates who ripped the drugs off and ran.
