$50 Flat Fee Parking All Day in Inlet Lot on July 4th

(June 25, 2014) -The Town of Ocean City is making a change to parking operations in the Inlet Parking Lot on Friday, July 4, by charging a $50 flat-fee for all day parking. The fee, which is good for one-entry, will allow visitors to come as early as 5 a.m. and stay as late as midnight, without being charged an hourly parking rate. In addition, a late entry fee will be permitted based on availability at 3 p.m. for a fee of $30, also allowing one-entry only.

Visitors who utilize the flat-free option will be issued a window pass and directed to park by assisting parking attendants. Once the lot fills, visitors will be encouraged to use neighboring parking lots, including Worcester Street, Somerset Street, Dorchester Street, North Division Street, 4th Street and the West Ocean City Park & Ride.

The normal “ticketed” parking operations will return at midnight on July 5. For questions about parking in the Inlet Lot on July 4th or for more information, please contact Communications Manager, Jessica Waters at 410-289-8967.

Not sure how this changes anything for those that cruise through the lot in under 30 minutes. The BEST parking deal is to drop your family off somewhere in the Inlet Parking lot, exit it within 30 minutes (that's free), then drive the car to the Park 'N Ride lot where parking is free. The cost for the driver to come back to area is $3 round trip. When it's time to leave, the driver can use his $3 bus ticket to get him back to the Park 'n Ride lot, then drive back to the lot to fetch his family (within 30 minutes).

Sounds good.....but I doubt after the fireworks you would be able to get into and out of the Inlet in 30 minutes. Once the lot is full they won't even let you in to drop off or pick up. You could drop family off on a side street and avoid the inlet all together. Im not even sure if they will let you in the inlet parking unless you pay the $50 dollars. I wouldn't chance getting stuck in the inlet for more then 30 minutes lol
