WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House says President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration for three counties in Maryland affected by a mid-February snowstorm.
Obama signed the declaration Thursday, making federal funding available in Baltimore, Carroll and Howard counties.
The Mid-Atlantic region was virtually shut down by the snowstorm on Feb. 12 and 13. Westminster, in Carroll County, got 19 inches of snow. Most areas in central Maryland got at least a foot of snow.
The disaster declaration means federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and some private nonprofits for emergency work.

He should declare the entire eastern shore as a disaster area!
