Don't have to tell me this! I already know my parents had it better than me. When I grew up, you only needed one income and you'd didn't need a college degree to make a decent living. Now a college degree doesn't even guarantee a living wage.
Notice how the decline/leveling off coincided with the massive entry of women into the workforce. Influx of cheap labor always holds down the cost of labor.
What do you women think about 7:48's comment?
9:59 he's a dope. You don't suppose the devaluation of the dollar, all of our munufacturing going to China and having a socialist/communist president has anything to do with it do you?
"9:59 he's a dope. You don't suppose the devaluation of the dollar, all of our munufacturing(sic) going to China and having a socialist/communist president has anything to do with it do you?"
So 5:04 40 years of stagnant wages for men(did you even look at the graph) is due to 6 years of a communist/socialist president.
I decided to look into 7:48's comment and found that from 1972-2000 the rate of labor force participation for women increased by 35% and median wages for women increased by 50% in that same time.
So comparing the 2 comments 7:48's and 5:04's for a workable hypothesis on mens' wage stagnation I would think 7:48's the less simplistic and idiotic.
I guess in your grand and glorious informed world view this makes me a dope also.
