Republicans argued that the change would be too expensive for employers and would backfire by costing jobs. Fueling their argument was a Wednesday morning Commerce Department report showing the economy grew at just a 0.1 percent rate in the first quarter.
The bill failed on a 54-42 test vote. It needed 60 to advance.

And now the MSM will blame Republicans for this, when, in fact, Democrats control the Senate. I believe that Democrats are beginning to suffer from Electile Dysfunction.
Democrats do not have 60 to overcome a filibuster which is what this was.
But this increase would have given a majority of Americans a wage hike because the Median Wage is only slightly more at $12/hour.
I do not buy the job losses. For most employers the wage is only a third of the cost of each employee. Furthermore they already cut as many employees as possible. No one left to cut.
I am Conservative but I worry many will vote their pocketbook and this is a big winner for the DNC. I have yet to find any reason to vote for the GOP. They have made it clear Obama Care is forever to hell with the voters. We gave them the House they give us nothing just more and more Obama. To hades with the DNC and GOP.
Thankfully I can vote for Andy Harris I love him and how he votes 99% of the time.
