Newspaper reports 'racist' comments by Nevada rancher
A comment by embattled Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy about blacks and slavery was taken out of context by the New York Times, according to Bundy’s son, Ammon Bundy, who told WND in an interview Thursday his father was trying to reach out to the black and Hispanic communities.
“They took what they wanted. They knew when they were there his comments were not racist. He wasn’t able to completely articulate,” Ammon Bundy told WND. “That’s just my dad. He is a very principled person.”
The Times, in a report by Adam Nagourney, said Cliven Bundy, in a daily meeting Saturday with reporters and photographers covering his case, made the comments that critics are calling racist.
“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” Nagourney quoted Bundy saying.
Bundy was recalling public housing projects in North Las Vegas.

And it's only because clowns, such as the posters here, believe everything they hear from the media without consulting facts, as long as the message strokes their preconceived notions. You have folks screaming Bundy is a racist, who don't know a thing about his case or the interview. Just as you have folks screaming "all blacks on welfare" even though they don't have a clue about whats going on beyond their tv screen, Limbaugh radio session, or the preconceived views they throw on anyone black they see walking by.
It was all a big misunderstanding.
He was actually explaining that the bursitis in his "knee grows" more painful when he is "slaving like a cotton picker" on his ranch.
Seriously, though ...Republicans and right wing pundits had been treating this guy like a rock star, building him up as a "Patriot for the Common Man", somewhat akin to what was attempted with "Joe the Plumber" back in 2008.
As I recall, this strategy didn't work out too well for John McCain either.
And now, most right wing pundits and politicians are attempting to distance themselves from the creep ("Clive who?") -- the only folks still defending him are like-minded, tea-chugging conservative bigots who still laud him as a hero.
Racist or not, you should probably know better in this day and age than to start sentences with "Let me tell you something about the Negro..."

Maybe he didn't word it very well, but the concept is right on. You are better off doing something to earn your keep than to lay around with nothing to do all day. 12:45 is correct-an idle mind is the devils workshop. The only thing that has changed is that they are now non- working slaves on the plantation. By the way, there are plenty of non-black people who fall under the same umbrella.

What are black people in other countries called. African Englishmen? IDK?
I think if I was black, I would pass on the whole "African American" deal. American will do me just fine, I would rather have all my teeth pulled out than go to Africa. Not too many people from U.S. would last 5 minutes there.

having to depend on the government is worse than slavery. I don't totally agree with the words Bundy chose, but I think I understand what he was Trying to say.
back in the day the black families were more intact and their spiritual and moral core was solid. the family structure meant something to them and for the most part they were respected.
today the black community has made major inroads in every segment of society, but too many have been left behind. I believe many have had a "come to Jesus" moment in the past 5 years. they now see that the majority of their community is still stuck in poverty and their families are broken and many of their youth are incarcerated and single mothers with no hope for the future. sad but true. they believed in the liberals and dems to help them up the ladder when all along the dems were putting them into "slavery".

7:20-Exactly. Anyone on welfare isn't living they are just existing. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would want to live when their sole existence depends on what pittance the government throws to them. They must like it though because they keep on having more children and the cycle continues.

If it really was an issue of the "leftist" MSM taking his quotes completely out of context, why would far-right nutjob Hannity immediately rush to dump all over Bundy as well? As an earlier commenter put it, in this day and age starting a sentence with "Let me tell you something about the Negro..." is racist, full stop. There's no qualifying that.
