Moved by stories of children suffering, a growing number of states are carving out exceptions to their laws against medical marijuana for an extract of the plant that advocates say helps relieve severe seizures.
So far, legislation has mostly appeared in the South, where no state is among the 20 in the U.S. that have already legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. But Utah’s legislature was the first to pass such a bill, which Gov. Gary Herbert is expected to sign. Kentucky, which unanimously approved a bill in its Senate earlier this month, could be the next to join. Lawmakers in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and North Carolina have either submitted bills or pledged to push for legislation once their state assembly sessions begin.

High Times magazine has advertised a marijuana extract pill,or capsule rather for many years. Not sure whether there would be similarities between the subject of this post and the pill.
11:08 Two different things. This oil is being used on patients with great success, where it is permitted. A friend just lost her child to a condition that is treated with the oil. Other kids in her group are making gains, and doing really well. Her state didn't allow it's use, so they had to watch their child suffer, then pass. I don't see the big deal, it's safer (and studied/trialed) way more than the pharmaceuticals being shoved down our throats.
If High Times was selling it then it was likely hemp extract not containing the active ingredients in marijuana grown with specifically for their active Cannabinoids. With that in mind researchers have no clue which Cannabinoids are actually the ones helping people. Research has been actively blocked on most levels so this information may be a long time coming. In the mean time those suffering will just have to take their chances and hope they are extracting from plants that contain an active ingredient in doses that will help them. To date there have been over 70 different Cannabinoids found. Which ones cure cancer? Who knows.
Lift the ban on medical marijuana.
And encourage research!
The formula that works best for seizures is to have a strain that is low in THC (The canabinol that gets you high) but high in CBD a different cannabinoid that has proved to work in decreasing seizures. It's a fine line in states where it is prohibited, there are people risking a death penalty for trying to help these kids. One mother said her son (She's a professor at Stanford, no dummy) was having 8 to ten seizures a day. With medication provided by underground sources have her young son of 7 yrs of age is down to 3 to 4 seizures a week. Where is the compassion?
I know how to make concentrates, been there, done that. I'm ready for a new industry with a future.
Hey 9:00 your on to something. Why not start growing it on the farms and manufacturing the oil right here on the shore?
The future of medical quality marijuana will more than likely be indoors due to the risk of theft of high dollar quality product. Local farmers could grow Hemp to make fiber/textile type products, clothes, rope etc. As long as it's illegal, I wouldn't risk my home and business.
This is 9:00, years ago I did have an indoor grow, in a closet, for personal use only. I learned how to make concentrates way back then. In the mid '90's I started getting worried that if I got caught I may loose my home to a seizure if I were to get caught, so I quit. You can bet if it is ever legal I will have a more satisfying career. I would be so happy that I could create something that would help somebody that was suffering from seizures, cancer, AIDS. For those kids with serious seizures, improving their quality of life would be worth more than all the gold on earth. I'm ready to get to work! If it don't pass, I'm going to sell my house and just move on where it has passed. I'm in over 20 years of my mortgage, I'm about ready to leave this area anyway even if I just break even on the house.
