Troopers Arrest Man After He Attempts To Hire A Hit-Man

Arraigned at JP2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $130,000.00 cash bond.

Odessa, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a man after he attempted to hire a hit-man to do harm to two attorneys.

Detectives began their investigation on Wednesday February 19th after receiving information from a concerned citizen that David T. Yarborough wanted him to find someone to do harm to some people. A detective, posing as the hit-man, called Yarborough in order to gather more information on what he would like done. While speaking with Yarborough, he confirmed he wanted a subject killed but later changed his mind and stated he wanted the person seriously injured to the point they would never walk again. A monetary agreement was made between Yarborough and the undercover detective and he agreed to make half the payment before the hit was conducted and the other half would be paid upon completion of the job.

Detectives phoned Yarborough again on Thursday February 20th to confirm the previous arrangements and establish a meeting location. Yarborough informed detectives that one of the intended victims was an attorney who recently represented him on various criminal charges. He was able to provide the detective with an address where the attorney lives and stated he had been watching the victim’s movements, knowing when he left his house in the morning and when he returned home at night. At approximately 3:20 p.m., Yarborough met with the undercover detective in the parking lot of the Wawa located on Middletown Odessa Road west of Odessa, where the money exchange took place as well as information on the intended target was given. At that time, Yarborough also provided the detective with another attorney’s address and information of whom he also wanted harmed. This victim was determined to be a prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Office. Yarborough then rode with the undercover trooper to the two intended victims residences located nearby. After Yarborough showed the detective the two residences where the victim’s lived, he was brought back to the Wawa where members of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Team (SORT) took him into custody without incident.

David Yarborough was transported back to Troop 3 where he was arrested for two counts of Attempted Assault 1st, two counts of Criminal Solicitation 2nd, and two counts of Stalking. He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to JTVCC on $130,000.00 cash bond.
