Ramis suffered from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a disease that causes swelling in the blood vessels, and died from complications of the illness, surrounded by his family.
A graduate of the famed Second City comedy theater, Ramis got his start in show business writing films like “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and “Ghostbusters,” which he also acted in.

Harold was connected to a whole run of classic American Comedies. Caddy Shack and Groundhog Day will live on forever...they have to be considered classics
