Mostly all EMS Calls. With that staffing the City should change the name of the fire department to Salisbury EMS and let EMS run EMS and volunteers run the very few fire calls there are. Run more mutual aid on ALL fire related calls. A car fire on North Salisbury Blvd would get an engine from Delmar and Station 2. A car fire at Rt. 50 and Tilghman Road will get an engine from Parsonsburg and Station 1. A car fire on Pine Bluff Road would get an engine from Fruitland and Station 16. A house fire on Gordy Road would get a truck from Delmar, and engine from Parsonsburg and an engine and a truck from 2 volunteer stations in Salisbury. Discontinue responding an engine on all medical assist and car accidents. With the extra staffing from the paid fire side now staffing extra ambulances you could send 2 ambulances and an EMS Captain to a medical call that required extra hands such as a working cardiac arrest. Responding a second ambulance instead of an fire engine is more effective, efficient and just make better sense. Thousands upon thousands of tax dollars would be saved annually. Just because other city fire departments are self dispatching themselves with a million dollar fire truck only proves the fire administrators are doing anything they can to save their jobs. Get rid of the paid fire department in Salisbury. It is completely fiscally irresponsible.
