Colorado Bill Attempts To Prevent Food Stamp Money From Being Used To Buy Pot

The bigger the loser, the more likely it is that they’re taking food stamps and using pot. So now that Colorado has legalized pot, it’s only a matter of time until there are degenerates using their food stamp money to buy pot. Some Republicans are trying to stop that inevitable problem before it starts.

A bill proposed this week by several Republicans would add marijuana dispensaries to liquor stores, gun shops and casinos as places where recipients of public assistance payments and food stamps can’t use their electronic benefits cards to access cash.

There haven’t been any reports of public EBT cards being used at marijuana dispensaries. But lawmakers say pot shops should be added to the law to make clear it’s not legal.

“We need this bill, if for nothing else, as a statement,” said Rep. Jared Wright, R-Grand Junction.

It's always best to have a test state or two at first. After their issues with legalized pot have been ironed out somewhat the rest of the country can get on board.Since the EBT issues are the same nationally, and subject to the same abuse within the US and it's possessions, that which they learn in Colorado will benefit us all.

The "bigger the loser", huh? Would "losers" include several U.S Presidents? Senators, judges, cops, state governors, Olympic Gold medalists, and on and on and on? Stop the hyperbole. Smoking a joint doesn't make anyone a loser. Being a "loser" goes a LOT deeper than that.

They shouldn't be buying anything from any of those establishments with any money....if they come up with money to spend there, it should be deducted from what they get in benefits!

They will need the EBT money for snacks when they get the munchies!

this article is irrelevant. The recreational dispensaries in CO CAN'T OPEN A BANK ACCT to use for their profits. As it is still federally illegal, banks won't allow them to accept credit cards. So whoever wrote this article needs to get their info straight before bashing "stoners" for being lazy. there is such thing as a functioning pot head who can work, play, work out, eat healthy, and do everything that a regular person can. let people make their own decisions. THEY are the adults in their lives. You are not a parent

When will we hear from Al and Jesse about how this will hurt the black community due to most people using welfare are in need for medical purposes?

In my opinion the only place the ebt card should only work is a grocery store that sells food, not casinos, gas stations, or liquor stores.
