GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Police say an off-duty police officer has shot and killed his son as the man fatally stabbed his mother at their Maryland home.
Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Jim Daly says the officer fired at his 25-year-old son Wednesday night after he saw him attack his mother with a sharp object in the family's Gaithersburg home. The woman — the officer's wife — was critically injured and later died at a hospital.
The reason for the fight was not immediately known.

I have lost a son at 3, but this has to be if possible, more devastating than that. I can't put this in any category. God hold on to this man please, he needs it. I pray in the name of Jesus and the Father, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide him.
That is unfortunate. And i truly feel bad that he has lost his son and his wife.
That said I can not help bu wonder how the state will treat this. Other people have defended themselves or others in MD and have been brought up on murder charges. Will wait and see.
Truly a tragedy.

IF his story is true, and can be proved forensically without police cover up or "omerta", I have the utmost sympathy for him. IF not, I wound't be surprised.

No - Im retired cop and it sounds like it could be a cover up also... Have to look at all sides here.
Why would son do this, did he have a past?
