crap. We have a government shutdown where they are getting back pay. The only thing shut down is our monuments. This is a joke. Fire all non essential people in the government and lets move forward.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
I thought as usual it was a bunch of BS! It was nothing more than a blame game and he no doubt picked the soft responders who did not ask any tough questions. This guy is a total waste and a real joke. When he talked about what a shame it was he had to cancel his Asia trip. I had to laugh knowing that China, our biggest debt holder, is walking all over us because of his total weakness. How this community organizer ever became Presidet is beyond me as he is for sure the worst even since Carter and Johnson. I shudder to know that this jerk has another almost three years. May Gog help us!

So the government workers will get back pay. What about the businesses that they have kicked off federal land. Will they also be paid for their loss? Doubtful. How about all the people that have lost their jobs because of Obamacare. Will they get back pay? I think anyone that is a government Let them collect unemployment. I can't wait to see the numbers soar.
I have a suggestion. With mid term elections coming in Nov. 2014, how about a National Referendum on the ACA. It has happened before when Prohibition was overturned. Obama has already delayed the employer mandate until Jan. 2015, so, there is plenty of time to organize a Referendum. I think the Republicans will gain much support if they place this option on the table. However, it is doubtful that Obama and the Democrats will agree with this thought of action, as the latest poll showed 82.5% of Americans don't want it. Can someone set up an online Referendum page where people can sign. I do not have the knowledge to do it. John R. Delmar
why was the speech at 2 pm, when there is a low volume of viewers? i found him petty and disrespectful to others. if he had something important to say he would have done it primetime.
Excellent Post. Back then I believe the National Debt was around 8 trilion. Today it is 17 trilion and no sign of stopping. What a Crook.

I couldn't listen. i'm having a hard time with the "naked emperor". his I.Q. is much lower than I thought. I never thought he was very smart, but I didn't realize Valerie Jarrett was setting policies and running the W.H. in toto. he's truly clueless and simply doesn't understand our system of government and how to negotiate. to conservative republicans; keep standing. we have plenty of money coming in to pay the interest on the debt and reduce spending as we go. don't fund ocare.

I still don't understand his definition of deficit. When he came into office we had about a 9 trillion deficit and now we have about a 17 trillion deficit. This is the new democratic math I guess. It seems he has the Chicago thug rhetoric down pat. Can someone please explain his definition of deficit?? It seems every time he moves his lips he's lying about something. Has anyone seen or heard of anyone possibly saving $2599 per year yet from ObamaCare??

He lied through his teeth saying he never said he wouldn't "negotiate" Of course he "will" AFTER the debt ceiling is raised..."for hours if that's what it takes", but not until after a vote on the ceiling. The "default" cry is a farce. They just cut a check .
