No Retreat, No Surrender

Republicans know they must avoid looking weak in the shutdown fight.

Republicans have partially planned and partially blundered into a government shutdown, and they appear to have no clear exit strategy. For now, many of them think it has become a test of their manhood. If they blink and pass a “clean” spending bill, they will lose face and enter talks over the looming mid-October debt-ceiling fight in a weakened position.

“We’re not going to be disrespected,” Representative Marlin Stutzman, an Indiana Republican, told the Washington Examiner. “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.” That kind of thinking doesn’t inspire confidence.

Timing is everything. For now, Republicans are holding together, but in about a week the financial markets are likely to go down, putting immense pressure on Republicans to abandon the shutdown fight. In 2011, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 15 percent over a three-week period during that fall’s budget and debt-ceiling fight.

dems are in the melt down mode and will continue their shrill until they are so down they won't be able to recover. the lapdog media are still clueless and trying to hold on to their "power" as well. they, too, look so very foolish.

the tea party and those that agree with the tea party are growing in numbers and their strength is surprising everyone. they aren't going away, so get used to it. we have seen and understand what we must do to save this nation. we will not give up. what do we have to lose at this point? this is our last opportunity to get it right.

Hilarious to watch how teaparty crazies are killing any chances GOP had in 2014.

Keep it up and you won't see a Republican president of majority in House/Senate for the next 20 years.

Alex why are you posting on Salisbury News? Don't you live in Baltimore county? I heard they need people like you to hand out literature at different social services offices in Baltimore city. Appears as though obamacare is falling hard and they need all hands on deck.

Republicans are in an excellent position. They not only represent more than 80% of Americans who oppose Obamacare, they hold a simple fact to back it up.

Adding 10,000 government administrators to work between doctor and patient can only serve to skyrocket medical costs, or severely curtail my lifespan.

Period.
