How Maryland robs its most vulnerable children
There's more: Not only does this agency take assets from children, but Gov. Martin O'Malley and the head of the Maryland Department of Human Resources encourage the practice, going so far as to hire a private company to help obtain Social Security disability (SSI) and survivor benefits (SSDI) from foster children to use as government revenue.
Children's Social Security benefits are intended to serve the children's best interests, not to pay the state back for foster care. But our foster care agency is targeting abused and neglected children who are disabled or have dead parents, applying for Social Security benefits on their behalf — and then diverting the money to state coffers. The practice has been occurring for years, but in secret. Children and their lawyers are not notified.

The portion they take is for room and board, perfectly within the law
That money should go to their future
It does, gives them a roof over their head for the moment and food in their stomach. The remainder, they or their guardian, can spend at their discretion or save for their future as you suggest. Same thing would happen if they lived with indigent parents who got the check but, hopefully, it is better managed with good Foster Parents. Do agree that more oversight is warranted though,
He's probably doing the same thing with his parent's SSI!
Governor O'Dumbass does not give a $hit who he steals from just look at his past.
O'Malley is stealing from everybody in maryland
I'm sure they are assessed out of their SSI checks every time it rains on their
foster homes.
These children are the very people that should be PROTECTED and cared for by the state, NOT used for their SSI benefits.
They should receive funds instead of the lazy degenerates O'Malley supports.
Why would this surprise anyone. omalley (who is his mind thinks he is a good parent) is stealing from his own children also. The democrats are leaving nothing more than a big mess for future generations.
