Resume:
Georgetown - Two Seaford residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Georgetown this morning.

The incident happened at 8:38 a.m. as Michael Johnson, 29, drove a 1999 Ford Contour east on Seashore Highway (St. Rt. 404), west of Vaughn Road. For an unknown reason the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, towards a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Daniel Jacobs, 57, of Seaford, attempted to avoid a collision by swerving towards the right shoulder of the westbound lane. However, the Contour, after crossing the center line in the roadway, struck the driver's side of the trailer. It then spun several times and came to rest off of the roadway.

Johnson and his passenger, Shalamar Johnson, 27, were both transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Shalamar was admitted to the hospital with serious leg and internal injuries. Michael Johnson was flown from Nanticoke Memorial Hospital to Christiana Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition with several injuries. It is not known if the occupants of the Contour were properly restrained.

Jacobs was properly restrained at the time of the crash and was not injured. Seashore Highway was closed for approximately five hours while Troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
