On Winning $30K In Lottery, Winner Says, ‘I’m Still Going To Do My Normal Thing And Work Six Days A Week’

OCEAN CITY – For one Ocean City local, buying scratch-off lottery tickets and forgetting about them turned into the realization of one of her dreams.

Ocean City resident Lauren Buckler, 21, had purchased 15 of Maryland Lottery’s $2 Blackout Bingo tickets at 7-Eleven on 139thStreet. She held onto them for a few days before she got around to scratching them off.

“I had sort of forgotten about them,” she said.

Buckler was bartending at Kirby’s Red Onion Bar and Grill last Wednesday when she remembered to scratch off her tickets. She had two couples sitting at the bar when she came across a winning ticket and they all began helping her count up her bingo spaces one-by one.

30,000 is no much today. I'm sure there's taxes still owed And he'll be kicking in more come April.

With Maryland taxes she will be able to keep about one third of that. However, I'm happy for her.

She'll have to pay the taxes on it and claim the balance on her income the next year and pay taxes on it again... She will probably owe them a couple grand when all said and done... It happened to my Uncle when he hit for 50k last year.....

Money is relevant. To her this may be a large amount that will last a very long time.It all depends on the person.

30K is not that much money in the scheme of things, although it's not like I would turn it down.

648-Sounds like your uncle had some tax issues outside of winning money. It's just not possible to owe more than you win, sorry.
