Union Calls For Firings In Wake Of Officer Stabbing

A Maryland corrections officers union is calling for three directors to be fired after authorities say a correction officer was recently stabbed five times at a state prison.

The AFSCME Maryland Council says three directors in the Public Safety and Correction Services department should be fired after a four-year veteran correctional officer was stabbed several times by an inmate at North Branch Correctional Institution near Cumberland.

The President of the Council says it has documents to prove that supervisors at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland had intelligence of a credible gang related assault and failed to inform corrections officers about it.
