Fewer Than Half Of Federal Student Loans Currently Being Repaid

studentloandebtbreakdown

It’s scary enough to think that the federal government has around $1 trillion in student loan money out there waiting to be repaid. More frightening is the fact that not even half that amount is currently being paid back.

Earlier today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ran some numbers on who owes what in student loan debt, and whether these folks are paying it back.

When the college system in the U.S. collapses, when S.U. and UMES and even Wor-Wic (although they might survive) shut down for good ( I believe we are less than 15 years away from that)...then where will Salisbury be? Here's a fun thing to think about- what should we do with all the abandoned campus buildings?

As a college grad from SU with student loans going to grad school, I CAN'T pay back my student loans anytime soon. I can't afford it. I'm a teacher and can barely afford all my bills without factoring in student loans.

Working 60+ hours a week as a teacher, you would think that I could afford to pay them back. No chance.

I have a feeling something big will have to happen before most students can pay back loans. The economy we were sold wasn't given to us.

Obama lies. it's a shame young men and women bought the lies. borrowing is never good, even on the best days. now in the p-poor economy, very few will be able to pay back the education loans.

I highly recommend you don't borrow money for anything. work at anything, save and pay as you go. you'll be better off.
