Superman: Flying To A Church Near You

Baltimore, Maryland (CNN) - As the new Superman movie takes flight this weekend, filmmakers are hoping the Man of Steel lands not only in theaters, but also in pulpits.

Warner Bros. Studios is aggressively marketing "Man of Steel" to Christian pastors, inviting them to early screenings, creating Father’s Day discussion guides and producing special film trailers that focus on the faith-friendly angles of the movie.

The movie studio even asked a theologian to provide sermon notes for pastors who want to preach about Superman on Sunday. Titled “Jesus: The Original Superhero,” the notes run nine pages.

The similarities between Jesus and fiction are really telling, aren't they?

This gives me an idea. I don't know if this would have legal implications or problems but after hearing that movie ticket prices are going as high as possibly $50 a ticket...why don't churches run good films for the public and have family nights and/or date nights. Seems like a win/win.

To you perhaps.

Comments like yours always make me wonder, those who choose not to believe almost always try to convince others who do believe to recant.

Is it because they are insecure in their non-belief? Do they want others to join them in their non-belief so they don't feel foolish?

Are they that arrogant that they believe they can change the believers mind? They are so negative that they want everyone around them to be negative also?

They see others happy and just want to ruin their day?

What is it? I just can't understand why they would want to harass and ridicule others for their beliefs.

Or is it just the cross believers have to bear for their belief in Jesus. Like He had to bear his cross and pay the ultimate price for His belief in us?

To be clear, I do find your beliefs very silly indeed. This not an attack, however, and you are not a victim.

It is hubris to suggest that while your beliefs can be expressed in a public forum, mine should not be, for mine are an affront and an assault.

The very structure of our society is based on discourse - I do you no service by pretending your point of view stands unopposed.
