Rail Crossing Stop Signs Faded At Md. Crash Site

BALTIMORE - Stop signs at a rail crossing where a train and trash truck crashed in a Baltimore suburb were faded and one was hung upside down and facing away from the road, according to a preliminary report on last month's derailment and explosion.

The National Transportation Safety Board released the report on the May 28 derailment in Rosedale on Wednesday.

It says the two-track highway grade crossing where the crash occurred has no active warning lights or crossing gates. It is marked with crossbuck signs and yellow, nonstandard stop signs. The paint on both signs had faded significantly. The signs were also displaced from their mountings.

The driver of the truck, 50-year-old John J. Alban Jr., did not stop at the crossing, the report said.

Did anyone else notice the AP reporters name on the "more info" page?

My question is: Didn't he see railroad tracks?? Last week I saw an unmarked silver police car stopped on the tracks on Carroll St. waiting for the light to change. Now how stupid is that??

Yeah, and?

Well, 1243, If you really need it explained to you, you really need to go park your car on the tracks, and read the article that explains how much damage a derailed train can do to a community and also realize that when the train hits you, you and your car are about .00001% of the weight of the train, and afterwards I will no longer have to answer your stupid questions because you will be a pool of sloppy goo draining out of an unrecognizable piece of metal.

Well since Joe won't post my original response to you, I suppose I have to do it in a nice way now.

I was referring to the comment about the journalist' name, not about a train or car.

Thank you for your input, unneeded as it was.
