Senate Approves Compromise On Pit Bull Legislation

With just a few hours left in the 2013 Maryland General Assembly session, one of the most contentious issue left for lawmakers to consider has to deal with liability for dog bite cases.

The debate follows a Maryland Court of Appeals decision last year, that automatically held pit bull owners legally responsible if their dogs attack someone.

The House and Senate approved separate bills to apply to all dogs.

Now a House-Senate Conference Committee has reached a compromise.
