WASHINGTON — When President Obama mentioned last week that he had picked up a new hobby — skeet shooting at Camp David — it was a surprising disclosure by a president whose main identification with guns these days is his effort to ban assault rifles and high-capacity magazines.
To some, Mr. Obama’s newfound enthusiasm for shooting clay pigeons — he said in an interview that he did it “all the time” at the presidential retreat — also seemed a bit suspicious.
So on Saturday, the White House tried to silence the skeptics by releasing a photograph of Mr. Obama shooting on the range at Camp David in August. The president, wearing protective glasses and ear-muffs, is squinting down the barrel of a shotgun moments after pulling the trigger. Smoke is shooting from the front of the gun.

did they do a background check for his mental capacity?
I can't zoom the photo, but does it have a "Threaded Barrel" that he wants banned? I see it has a very large magazine. 9 shots is more than seven. Mine is only five. Oh, look, isn't that a semi-automatic gun just like the AR-15 and AK-47? And that muzzle brake will suppress the muzzle flash at night! Oh, My!
On four points of your own you are shooting the very gun you want outlawed in your new bill. I guess we'll just have to go down to Camp David and sort through your gun collection to see if any of then are safe enough for you to keep!
last august @ Camp David... not that often.
8:47....THAT assumes the laws apply to him. Hint --- they DON'T. If MY background check included my admission that I used and sold drugs and had friends who used explosives in attacks on government entities, I think the best I could get would be a broken slingshot. I also would bet that for someone who goes skeet shooting "all the time" (but has, in HIS WHOLE LIFE, NEVER had his picture taken with a gun-- some DRUGS, but never a gun), has yet to hit a single target. But his savior-worshipping admirers are eating this up like chocolate cake. Propaganda. Lies. Political BS. The Secret Service probably had to show him where the trigger was and were crapping their pants when he was actually holding the gun, waiting for another "Dick Cheney-type" event. Picture that. Like giving an eight year old kid the keys to your Corvette. You KNOW it ain't gonna turn out well....
Maybe now that he is in the news as liking to skeet shoot as the original article stated "with a rifle" The Honorable Dick Cheney will invite him to go hunting with them out on a ranch somewhere (lol).
I am so against all gun restrictions. But you can't see if it's rifled barrel...and you can't tell how many rounds is chocked in the gun either.and it definitely doesn't have a magazine at all.while we gun lovers want to voice our opinions....ignorant uneducated people like you hurt our case.please refrain from commenting when you are clueless.it only hurts our cause.
We are not that lucky
to 12:53pm if you are referencing the original article you are the idiot here because if you had a clue you would know that you DO NOT SHOOT SKEET with a rifle!
Ok I am one that has no clue about guns. Sorry they scare me to death. However I don't have a problem with anyone owning them and push come to shove I would use one if needed.....with that said I have a few questions for those in the "know"
Since someone has said this is a shotgun, don't they usually have a kick to them. With smoke coming from the barrel he looks like hes standing straight up instead of being thrown back a bit. Question 2. Don't you tend to aim higher in the air when shooting skeet?
Is that really him in the picture?? Look twice at the hand ,wrist, and arm. Also at the hair ?? Interesting is it not ??
9:11 First if you know anything about shotguns you can tell by the tang and barrels that it is an over/under and only holds two shells, therefore, technically it isn't semi-automatic. There isn't any muzzle break on it, and it doesn't have threaded barrels. I don't need magnification to tell any of that. If he is shooting sporting clays, the aiming point may correct as well.
3:46 Yes, that front hand and wrist do look like a bad photoshop.
TideRunner, you are right and I stand corrected, I thought that it was a semi-auto with a long magazine under the barrel. Also, o/u's are typically two differently choked barrels, so adjustable choke tubes would not be threaded on the end of the barrel, but if there is no muzzle brake, where is the smoke coming from out the side of the barrel?
Shot the lower barrel first and the smoke is drifting off. Most good O/U's are selectable as to which barrel shot's first.
Funny a picture turns up after all the media discussion about obama stating he shoots guns at Camp David. I really wonder when the picture was taken and if it truly is real.

no, look closely. You can see the smoke is coming from the top barrel.
Also, they took this shot as the wadding was coming out of the barrel. That I suspect is the reason for the smoke shooting out the sides. Pressure being released.
The barrels, like many modern shotguns are threaded inside to allow the installation of various sized chokes so the gun will shoot different patterns. The barrels are also ported, a series of small holes on each side with the ports slightly canted to direct the escaping gases in a way to help reduce the recoil. Recoil reducing kits can also be put in the stocks and many skeet loads can be purchased that are very light, hence little or no recoil. We also do not know the guage of the gun it could be a small guage with low recoil. Would this be banned because of the inside the barrel threads. The banners are unaware of the definitions of what they are about.
This is B.S. He wants to take all guns so we can't defend ourselves when they come for everything else.
