Senate President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller Jr. officially introduced his transportation funding plan on Monday evening.
Miller's plan includes a new 3 percent sales tax on gas paid at the wholesale level and giving local jurisdictions the ability to add as much as 5 cents to the state's existing 23.5-cents-a-gallon gas tax to pay for local road and transit projects.
Funding for transportation projects has been a hot topic since 2010. But lawmakers have struggled to agree on how the state will pay for proposed high-dollar projects including the Red Line in Baltimore, the Purple Line in Prince George's and Montgomery counties and the Corridor Cities Transitway along Interstate 270 northwest of Washington. The state currently only has enough money to maintain existing projects, officials have said.

As usual, the big money projects will go to the big cities...nothing for the Eastern Shore. TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION is what it is. The Eastern Shore pays taxes, too!!
Gas prices are already going up, just wait for the summer blend, we'll be paying $4 a gallon.

Remember the state government sold us the notion that the higher tolls fees were necessary to pay for the road upkeep. What did they do with that money?
