Unfit for Combat

The United States Marine Corps is set to shed more than 20,000 active duty positions in the coming years and have already commenced a process meant to force some senior officers into an early retirement.

The Marines are on course to cut around 4,000 positions a year through 2017, decreasing the total number of Marines to 182,100 from its peak last year of 202,100, according to a major scale-down order that was quietly issued last year.

The reduction in forces could leave the elite fighting force underprepared to battle multiple regional threats, particularly those in the Middle East, according to military experts.

Well, we shouldn't be over there in an undeclared war in the first place! Our troops, other than the ones over there to protect our Embassies and Consulates should be here at home protecting our own borders. That's how to cut the budget and save money.

Seems to me that we do NOT need to throw 100k+ troops into multiple regions anyway. Have enough forces to hit terrorists early before the threat fully coalesces (sp) and enough to defend the homeland.

They are starting by asking if the Officers would give the order to fire on American citizens...answer no and your name goes on the list...even though it is unconstitutional to use the American Military inside our borders like that.

Fine with me. Our bloated, expensive military is one of the main reasons this country is in such massive debt.
