Wicomico Students Participate In Optimist Club Of Salisbury Youth Appreciation Day


Eighteen Wicomico County middle and high school students will spend Wednesday, Nov. 14 on a tour of the community for the Optimist Club of Salisbury’s annual Youth Appreciation Day, held during Optimist International’s Youth Appreciation Week. 

School administrators selected students for this community tour based on accomplishments and activities, and they will spend the day exploring the community through visits to the Charles H. Chipman Cultural Center, Poplar Hill Mansion, City of Salisbury and Mayor’s Tour, and the Salisbury Fire Department. The Youth Appreciation Day will culminate in an evening banquet at Salisbury University.  

The 2012 participants in the Optimist Club of Salisbury’s Youth Appreciation Day are:

Bennett Middle: Alison Sahler and Sandra Zelaya
Pittsville Middle: Colleen Simpkins and Cody Morris
Salisbury Middle: Ashon Barton and Zoe Sheller
Wicomico Middle: Jung Oh and Madelynne “Maddie” White
Mardela Middle and High: Rebecca Carey and Charles Echard, middle; Abigail Guillemart and Zachary Hyland, high school
James M. Bennett High: India Whitehead and Terrance Hopkins
Parkside High: Jock Simon and Jenna Wright
Wicomico High: Gwyneth Hazel and Lena Ward
