“Yes, I certainly do think that this is yet another wake-up call,” Figueres said of Hurricane Sandy to Yale Environment 360 in an interview published by The Guardian.”I did hear President Obama say quite categorically in his acceptance speech that he is not going to have a future that is threatened by increasing warming . . . I do think that this mirrors the growing awareness in the United States. So I do think that Sandy has contributed to this. Is it the tipping point? That remains to be seen.”
Figueres also spoke if international frustration with the United States for failing to sign onto UN global warming initiatives such as the Kyoto Protocol.

The world is full of morons, like those that beleive in the religion of man made global warming.
There is global warming, its just not man made. One volcano puts out more pollutants that all of mankind has since the beginning of man.
and we're supposed to care what the u.n. says. stuff it u.n.
Our contribution to dirty air is negligible compared to countries like China and India. Go talk to them, get them to match our air and water standards then come back and see if we feel like talking. Having the UN pissed off t us is not real high on my list of concerns. Of course the question comes, what the hell does a hurricane have to do with global warming?
When my wife was going thru "the change", she thought she was responsible for global warming. She even had dreams that Al Gore was following her around in a unmarked car.
I had a wife like that once.
