believe it or not there was a time when we could live on S.S. life was sure different then and prices hadn't skyrocketed. we didn't have a lot left over, but if we planned and budgeted we could make do.
now; no we can't. my husband still works because he has to and i work from home on the internet. we struggle but it's working so far.
My house will be paid for when I'm 65 if things work out. Yes, I live simply and could live on SS, whether I make it to that point (SS) without losing the house is another thing. Ten years yet to go.
Retirement should consist of a composite of funds,and the only way to accomplish that is to start early,like when you're 18.Just don't put all of your eggs in one basket.SS can be used for luxuries like an occasional cruise if it isn'nt ones sole source of income.

no I couldn't and I won't have to. I'm gonna git me an independance card, free cell phone, free rent free health care plus free money from obummer. So I won't have to live on ssi!
