As of 830 it still was not under control. Everyone was safely evacuated. Started around 7:00
Salisbury should dispatch the fire boat.... GO!

The reason both lanes of Route 50 were shut down was because of water source. The fd had to run 5 in lines across both lanes of traffic from the south side of Route 50. Yes it was a pain but water puts fire out. Great job by all the police and fire units.

Please don't plant that seed as Salisbury's Mayor might lay claim that he needs a new channel dredged from SBY to OC to provide adequate fire boat service to that area. With the adjustment in taxes along with the Salisbury Waste Water Treatment plant - residents might as well just deed over their property to the City.
I just don't understand some people. If you have a beef against a FF speak to them directly. Most in this area are volunteering to possibly die trying to save property and lives of folks they don't know.Instead of being pissed you had to turn around on 50 you should be glad your sorry ass wasn't trapped in the building.And no I'm not a fire fighter.

If someone is that ignorant to die trying to "save property" then someone is doing something wrong. The intelligent ones in the fire service "Risk Little to Save Little." Your property has no value compared to a human life.

I was not near there, I didn't have to turn around on rt. 50.
I was just curious as to why they were spread out like that. All I wanted to know was the reason for it.

The ignorant responses I got, except for one response that was not, were just uncalled for. They seem to me to be a symptom of low self esteem.
Instead of complaining of our attitude towards firefighters, et. al., why don't you ask yourself (yourselves) why people would even have one.
Don't you think there may be a reason for them?
I agree 2:12. It's amazing how the ignorant comments started without even being provoked. You asked one simple question-- Why were trucks on both sides of the highway--and the assinine remarks started appearing. Respect is earned.

Response to 9:11 & 8:24 a.m. Posting about Salisbury's Fire boat
Rumor has it that it (fire boat) is the 'fastest boat on the Wicomico River' and that it can even make it around the entire peninsula from Salisbury, Crisfield, Cape Charles, Assateague, and then Ocean City in about an hour. If the OC firefighters can just hold the fire at bay - well Salisbury's finest will arrive to save the day. Shoot - rumor has it that the newest fireboat can even shoot a stream of water from the OC Inlet onto the direct rooftop of Watermans.
Like I said - it is one 'bad ass boat'.
