Armed Robbery

LOCATION: West Ocean City, Worcester County, Maryland
CHARGES: Armed Robbery
First Degree Assault
Use of Handgun in the Commission of a Felony
Theft Over $1,000

NARRATIVE: On August 3, 2012
, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the Lids, located at 12741 Ocean Gateway, Unit #844, Ocean City, Worcester County, Maryland. Upon arrival, Deputies observed that the clerk was on the floor of the store, and the doors to the business were locked. The clerk had been tied up. Deputies made entry to the store, and made contact with the clerk, who informed them that he had just been robbed at gunpoint and beaten. The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation was contacted to respond and continue the investigation.

Upon arrival, Detectives interviewed the victim, who advised that when he was taking out the trash a light skinned black male with dreadlocks dressed in all black clothing placed a gun in his back and ordered him into the store. Once inside the store, the victim advised that the suspect forced him to lock the door and bound his hands and feet together and beat him repeatedly. Once incapacitated, the suspect then stole cash and numerous hats from the store before exiting.

It's a new place in the White Marlin Mall on the eastern end.

Does anyone know what was going on last night in West OC around 11:30 pm? MSP helicopter was searching with a spotlight for about an hour. They were searching the area around White Marlin Mall, the 50 bridge and the residential areas around that. I hope it was not another armed robbery.
