Women Are Screwed
Yesterday – the Paycheck Fairness Act, which demands women get the same pay for the same work as men, and gives women more protections to fight back against gender discrimination, was put to a vote in the Senate. And 52 Senators – a majority of Senators – supported it. Unfortunately – a near-unified Republican filibuster – prevented passage of the bill now that Republican obstruction in the Senate now requires a 60-vote supermajority to pass anything. Republicans say there is no such thing as a "war on women" – but Tuesday's vote in the Senate – when nearly every single Senate Republican affirmed that women shouldn't be paid as much as men in the workplace – just confirms it.

what other bullcrap was included in the bill that they voted against. this whole paycheck fairness act is nothing but a political ploy.
This paycheck fairness act was nothing about fairness and all about exposing employers to unlimited liability.
This was another attack on job creators and it's a good thing the republicans blocked it.
Wonder how many of the 52 that voted in favor pay the women on their staff the same as the men. We know Hoyer doesn't; suspect Milkulski pays the men on her staff (if any) less than the women.
There is NO excuse for this being voted down. Neanderthals!!!!!! I've been supporting my unemployed husband for a year and a half, like many women.
114-This bill would EXCLUDE the federal gov't from any possible penalties for unfair pay.
Really sounds fair, huh?
Amen. Glad this issue went mainstream media public. This is very real injustice in the work world. Personally as a female, I worked at 2 different places where I knew of a male employee who did less work than I and was paid $1.00more. I wonder how many other places have done the same thing yet I just was not aware of it? AND Interestingly, both places were privatly owned and opperated businesses run by a male boss, yet their wife was a partner/employeee in the business.
The only people that would have benefited from this are the lawyers.
This is really bias because I'm not sure about this but almost of all the senates are male so if they did something against males they would be against it but if its about women they would be with it if it fills there pockets with more money like this one.
votes against were because of elements in the bill having to do with everything but equal pay.
A liberal friend of mine stopped me as I was going into the bank this morning to tell me that the Republicans hate women and they don't want them to have equal pay and that I should vote for the "best president in history". I knew there was more to this Bill than equal pay for women. And YES, it is a big time political ploy by the Dems to make the public believe something that is just not true. I was also amazed at how completely opposite our views are!! My friend will stand by his convictions and I will stand by mine. However, in the big scheme of things, we both believe in God and we want a better world for ALL people. God Bless America.
