BREAKING NEWS: Walker Survives Recall Election in Wisconsin

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has survived a recall election, defeating the Democratic mayor of Milwaukee to keep the state's top political job.

Walker becomes the first governor in American history to stay in office after a recall challenge.

The Republican governor rose to national prominence last year after taking on public-sector unions shortly after being sworn in. That fight also triggered the recall and set up a rematch with Tom Barrett, who was defeated by Walker in 2010.

Great to hear. Onto November!

I, for one, will be one of those in November to cast my vote to "oust" the worst president in history!

The People have a voice that is louder than any union. The unions are bleeding out now, and will get another volley in November.

Wisconsin has said a resounding "NO" to communism!
Members of unions be on notice, America doesn't like you!

The folks from Wisconsin understand that you don't need a union for protection from the voters.

Yeah, but didn't the voters of Wicomico County vote in favor of collective bargining for the Sheriff Deputies?

Power to the people. The people of Wisconsin have spoken.

When I heard that O'Malley was part of the recall drive it reminded me of the things going on in Salisbury against Cohen, Campbell and Spies. There are a bunch of special interest groups trying to throw out the people we elected. If you pay attention you know that COhen, Campbell and Spies are doing a good job. The paper prints one falsehood after another in support of trying to smear the three hardest working council members that we have had in decades. We need to stand up for them.

Maybe just maybe the sleeping giant has awakened once again?
We can only hope this momentum carries over into november.

I hope the Ocean City city workers are listening and learning a lesson from Wisconsin.
The public is not behind unions no matter what you may believe or are being spoon fed.

Watch centuries of progress go right out the window into the hands of corporatists. You people have been so thoroughly indoctrinated that you're willing to turn your children's education over to capitalist robber bosses. It's the 1800's all over again, but we're FAR less intelligent as a society. It only took them a century, but they finally got the stupid, pliable population they need to willingly submit to fascism. It is a black day for democracy.

Off topic but I just want to say Mrs Campbell is doing a great job as always. For years she was the lone vote against what turned out to be Salisbury's multi million dollar fiascos.
Only a fool would be against her.

This is a great day. I understand Scott Walker's economy is doing pretty well thank you very much.

And Romney will do the same for the U.S. and we will rise once again as a great and FREE nation.

lol 6:24, something tells me that when "the people speak" in November if their voices don't match the political perspective of you guys, America suddenly won't seem so "beautiful" to you guys. ha ha. According to many who post here seems democracy is good....as long as the people vote how you want them to.

I've learned over the years that until there is a problem, no one acts. If the unions hadn't been so greedy, Walker wouldn't have had to taken the steps he took to loosen their stranglehold on the taxpayers. People voted for the Deputies to have collective bargaining because they understood that the deputies are friends and family members of the voters in a much smaller community. The deputies never intended to take advantage of the taxpayers...they only wanted to be treated fairly and comparably to other police officers in the state of Maryland carrying out similar duties. They knew that the voters could grant the right and thay they could take it away. They didn't anticipate that elected officials would use taxpayers money to over rule the will of the taxpayers.

My goodness 8:15,

An excess in budget terms is much better than a debt.
Do you have any education?
Do you or have you studied this countries "Free Enterprise System"?
Some of us have earned what we have , it's very obvious you haven't. Entitlement is an endangered animal , it will go away.

The good old days of union thugism and bullying are on the way out finally.

@8:15 How many private companies have unions destroyed in our community?
Union corruption and greed is over in Wisconsin, now lets fix the rest of the country.

Can't wait to see how obama's minister of proganda spins this one. Or they may choose to just ignore and pretend it didn't happen. Walker won by a wider margin than he did in 2010. Goes to show there are some smart dems out there who have had it with the union and the recall silliness.

I had a few friends who interned on Capital Hill in the 80's. They were getting cases of $200 bottles of wine, and crates of Maine lobsters from the union bosses as gifts. Hugh bouquets of orchids shipped in from Hawaii and avocados shipped from California. All this paid for with union member dues. I bet for the most part the union members have never seen a $200 bottle of wine nor a case of lobsters.
Now if the interns were getting this I can imagine what the members of Congress themselves were getting-all on union member dues.
So keep on praising the unions because they need people like that so they can keep on living high on the hog!

Congrats to Wisconsin!!! I think Charlie Daniels said it best: The Eagles been flying slow and the flags been flying low - This Lady may have stumbled, but she ain't never fell and if the Russians don't believe that then they can go to hell! We're gonna put our feet back on the path of rightousness and then, GOD BLESS AMERICA, AGAIN!!!!!!!- If you don't remember, it is his song - In America!!

I think the term your looking for is robber barons, not robber bosses.

If the unions had sprung into action over piddly stuff such as "free prescriptions for retirees" then maybe, just maybe, Dresser and Crown Cork would still be around! It just goes to show you that if you start demanding too much that you are going to loose out in the long run.

I am happy that Gov. Walker one and I hope that our Gov. O'Malley is a one term governor. Maybe Michael Steele will be willing to run for Governor!

Attention liberals and union people-there is no such thing as a money tree!
