No one feels the pain more than I do when it comes to fog delays. Ever since I moved to Salisbury and there's a fog delay, this means I have to make the early morning trip back to Delmar.
That being said, you be the judge. However, be careful because the more rural areas do have more fog.

Yes, it is always way foggier in the non-city areas than it is in town, like right now where I am. The buses have to pick up from all over, not just Salisbury.

Two Hours is ridiculous.. the amount of time our kids are in school is minimal to what the rest of the developed world is and we wonder why are kids are behind

I believe the eastern shore is the only place in the country that has fog delays. I have spoken to other people from other states and they have never heard of such a thing. can you imagine if they had fog delays in the San Francisco area?

All it takes is one child to get hit by a car while waiting in the fog or a tractor-trailer to wipe out a bus and all you negative folks on here would eat crow and become the two faced people you are and jump all over the powers that be for "not" delaying due to fog. I can't stand it. Been here all my life and its the same 'ol

My sister lives in coastal New England, where they have a corner on the foggy morning market, I asked her if they had "fog" delays and she burst out laughing and said we'd never go to school on time!

How about if they have a one or two hour delay, they add that time on at the end of the day. Sounds fair!
You guys are idiots.......no one is going to be able to predict a fog delay 100 percent of the time! You people were probably the same people jumping all over the board for not calling one before......most of you should be happy because it save you tax dollars hahahahah....

The responses from the post show really how late people get to sleep in. If you were up at 5:30- when the decision has to be made- you would know how foggy it was.
two hours too much, maybe an hour, and as far as the concern with safety, there are not enough rules and regs and delays that can keep people perfectly safe. Accidents can also happen on very clear and dry roads.
Yes fog adds an extra factor in possiable accidents, people need to be extra carefull

Well....looks like you'd try to change that way of thinking or are you one of them that's always bitching about something too? Fog is fog and if these school bus drivers will follow road rules as they are supposed to, seems to me there would be no reason for fog delays. As stated above, other parts of the country deal with fog, snow and whatever else all the time and have no problem with getting the kids to school as scheduled. Now that tells me, this place does not and will not ever change - that's the way it is and people like you say if you don't like it leave - what an attitude to have.
Yea to the 8:37... you are part of the culture of "always" We have always done that. You are part of the problem, not the solution. You are in need of moving away and letting people that can change things and move forward for the better.. not the same old tired policies that hurt education.

I don't know if anyone is aware of this, but there are some buses that pick students up at 6:00am.I pick my first student up at 6:25. And when it's foggy it's really bad here in the sticks. What I'm trying to say is, is that it is necessary to have a 2 hour delay sometimes. I have driven my bus in fog that has been so bad I could only see to the end of the hood of my bus. Those times are quite scary. Remember we are responsible for your child's safety. So if that means we have to be 2 hours late for school, so be it.
I dont have kids so the this doesnt really affect me at all.. however, if anyone has ever driven past ANY school bus stop you will see kids playing around, pushing and shoving, and running in and out of the street...
Now add limited (sometimes severely) visibility for drivers and the kids and you have a disaster waiting to happen before the kids even get on the bus.
Do you remember a few years back when a BUS driver in Easton got Killed by a tractor-trailer in the fog...The driver of the truck couldn't see the red light due to fog,slammed into the bus killing the driver...LET THERE BE FOG DELAYS
I don't mind the fog delays. There are children that have to cross the road to get on the bus. If the oncoming driver cant see them it could turn out bad. I was up at 5AM this morning and the fog where I live *in the sticks* didn't look so bad at all. I could see a pretty good distance.

I don't know which comment was yours. Let me try to explain something to you. Sometimes it is not that we are rejecting. The comment is getting thrown into the spam filter. Since we took of the word verification our spam folder is over flowing with all kinds of advertisements. I do go in there and check but sometimes we have to scroll back several pages to find a comment that was thrown in there hours ago. I am human and sometimes I do miss comments that were thrown in there.
