Blue Heron In Salisbury Needs Help

The blue heron that sits along our river everyday has a fishing line and sinker
wrapped around his neck. We called several place yesterday late and no one
can/will help.

We are urging our viewers to use whatever resources you might have to contact as we have made attempts to gain their interest but have failed. If enough people contact them they will be inclined to do something.

Thanks for your help. The Heron is near Market Street Inn on the River.

This lady might be able to help. I know we took a baby bird to her years ago. Hope she is still in business.

Wonder if anyone from Blackwater Wildlife Refuge could point you in the right direction?

Wonder if any of our "First Responders" would take it upon themselves to help "untangle" what man has done!

Have seen many TV shows where Fireman or Police have gone to help
animals in trouble.

I sure hope someone out there "has the heart" to help!

I was thinking DNR but I'm sure that's the 1st. place you tried. Ohhh, what about the Zoo? Maybe a vet could tranquilize it so it can't fly away & could then unwrap the line. The bird wakes up & can fly freely.

I just called Channel #47 & #16---They said they'd take care of getting the news out there. I ask them to ask a Vet if they'd help---If you don't see it on the News ----Call & Call again.

Joe-If you call the Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research they will get in contact with someone here that can help get the heron taken care of...the number to reach them is 302-737-9543 ext 0 for the front desk - just tell them the situation and location and they will get help for the Heron!
My cousin works there - they will help

I have contacted the Tri State Rescue and the local person here has been out to see the bird but beacuse it can still fly away, they can not catch it to get the fishing line and anchor off of it, and now it appears the hook and line are in his mouth too...We started with DNR, no help at all. We just wish someone can help catch this Heron and be able to untangle this line off his neck...its so sad seeing him out there in this situation, he looks so helpless and distraught....please help somehow
