Congressional Redistricting Petition Drive Needs YOUR Help

Dear Fellow Marylander,

We are working feverishly to get enough signatures to make Thursday's deadline for the Congressional Redistricting Referendum effort. Getting the signatures will allow Marylander's to vote on the gerrymandered map that divides communities all across the state. As it stands now, we are very close to being able to turn in the first one-third of our signatures this Thursday night -- but we are not there yet.

That is why I am asking for your help right now to collect and turn in 20 signatures before 5:00pm this Thursday, May 31st. You are welcome to get more, and know that whatever you do is appreciated, but please do something.

The liberal Democrat machine is counting on you to fail to act so they can elect more Democrat Congressmen from Maryland and help put Nancy Pelosi back in the Speaker of the House chair.

If you do not act right now, we will be stuck with these outrageous and disrespectfully drawn Congressional district lines for 10 years. Two out of our 8 districts were listed in the top 10 most gerrymandered districts in the entire United States of America by The National Journal.

Even the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun have written in opposition to these silly lines, so do not hesitate to ask Democrats and voters unaffiliated with either party to sign also. Every Republican should be willing to sign.

You can go to www.mdpetitions.com for more information and to download the petition to print out. Please follow the instructions carefully. I have also attached to this e-mail the petition, instructions, and a copy of the bill.

If you are receiving this e-mail, that means I am counting on YOU to make this important effort successful. We must show Gov. Martin O'Malley that he has gone to far with his partisan agenda and you will not let him get away with it. People often ask me how they can help other than giving money and this is an important way. Please do not let this opportunity slip by you.

Sincerely,

Alex X. Mooney
Chairman, Maryland Republican Party

P.S. You may turn in your 20 signatures, or as many as you are able to gather, to the following locations:

1. Maryland Republican Party Headquarters, 95 Cathedral Street, Annapolis, MD 21401
2. Congressman Roscoe Bartlett's campaign office at 314 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701
3. MDPetitions.com headquarters at 1101 Frederick Street, Funkstown, MD 21734
4. If you need other locations or to arrange a pick-up, call the state director of the petition drive Stephanie at 240-405-4745, there are individuals in Baltimore County, Montgomery County and other areas who could arrange to meet with you to pick up the signatures

To start with - they need to do their petition like the Marriage one...much easier to accomplish - I have already done that one!

I agree with the premise of the petition - but the mechanics of completing it are prohibitive!

That doesn't look Gerrymandered at all, does it?
