Worcester Finalizes Numerous School Leadership Changes

SNOW HILL -- A number of Worcester County schools are about to see a widespread changing of the guard in administration.

Besides losing Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jon Andes and Assistant Superintendent for Administration Ed Barber to retirement at the end of the current fiscal year, the Board of Education also had to replace several principals, which sparked a large shuffle among employees, since nearly all promotions were made from within the school system.

“As a result of some retirements, we had to find four principals,” said Andes.
Andes added that he was “excited and delighted” by the new wave of administration.

“The success of a school system is determined by the quality of people leading each school,” said Andes.

A little top heavy in administration, aren't they? I graduated from Pocomoke High in 1969. We had one principal, one secretary and one guidance counselor for grades seven through twelve. Now PHS has one principal, two vice-principals, two secretaries, and multiple more hangers-on and flunkeys for only grades eight through twelve. If one were to count actual students in the building it works out to twice the staff for 23% fewer students.

Are you sure it's grades 8 through 12? Eight grade is supposed to be middle school.

I was hoping there was an announcement that Freddy was going to them.

LOL! Sorry, I meant nine through twelve. Yeah, I got great grades in math but that was 42 years ago.

Thank goodness no Freddy for us. Ruined 1 system already. Why give him chance for 2? One of these was not positive choice for the school!
