Here’s hoping that expected legal challenges of a requirement that Pennsylvania voters show photo identification at the polls will occur before the ink is dry on Gov. Corbett’s signature on legislation racing through Harrisburg.
A Wisconsin judge has halted implementation of that state’s voter identification law before its April primary, responding to an NAACP lawsuit that contends voters without driver’s licenses are “disproportionately elderly, indigent, or members of a racial minority.” Likewise, the Republican proposal in Pennsylvania is nothing more than a new form of a poll tax, similar to those imposed to turn away black voters in the old, segregated South.
So-called voter-ID rules would hit the old, young, poor, and minority voters the hardest — a slice of the electorate least likely to have government-issued identification of the type required under the measure approved Wednesday by the state Senate.
The fact that this group of voters disproportionately leans toward Democratic candidates, particularly in Philadelphia and other urban areas, uncovers the voter-ID proposal for what it is — a blatant bid for a GOP advantage at the polls.

so you need an id to get on a plane
buy allergy medicine, drive, cash a check, ect ect
but having one to vote is racist?
please. the dems dont want it because it would limit the voter fraud
Are they not required to have some kind of ID to get unemployment payments, food stamps and other welfare benefits???
So if it is an advantage to the GOP, it's not the GOP's fault or issue because democratic illegal's or legal lazy-a_ _ people don't want to take the time and get some kind of ID. The Democrats and the current administration just keep trying to push these racial tensions and its no wonder racism in society is getting worse.
A license not being held by the elderly is understandable. But its law for anyone over sixteen to carry I.d. . This is not about being racist. Its about making sure that all voters are legally able to vote.people that aren't here legally have no identification. The dems only want paco to be able to vote when he is still dripping water from the ears.
The elderly do not get social security without proving their identity.
Anybody against voter ID is for voter fraud.
Enacting these laws would certainly be an advantage to Republicans in that it would limit votes being cast by the dead. There is nothing wrong with the one person one vote that his country was founded on.
They can find an ID pretty quick when they want free benefits.
A Mexican can get a birth certificate s.s. card and I.d. in less than a week for $250. Whats the problem?
