The Los Angeles Police Department will soon start ignoring California state law, which requires police to impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers for 30 days.
The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants who are in the country illegally and have low-income jobs. The LAPD says the state's impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back.

We are in a sad state of affairs in this Country when own police do not enforce the laws as they took an oath to do. If this is the case, why would any of obey the law?
the term "anarchy" typically is meant to refer to a society without a publicly enforced government or violently enforced political authority.
So let's let them kill others because its unfair.they get to kill back home.it limits their way of feeling at home.come on! They broke the law to get here and continue to break the law and won't be sanctioned for it? What happens when they kill a person in an accident with no license or insurance? Let them go because they had to get to work? See the kicker is a person who comes legally will more than likely continue to live a legal life.the ones who don't will continue to commit crimes.I.e sneak in can't get a license yet still drive.
Why should the Government circumvent LAW to AID ILLEGALS in working ILLEGALLY?
And since when does the police Dept. decide which law they deem unfair????
Seems they cannot do anything correctly anymore.
All throughout this great nation governments are changing or disregarding the laws of the land without regard to the constitution. What does it come to and where does it end?i want my country back.
they are here illegally, what rights to they have? no money to get a license, then no money to buy a car, gas, not to mention insurance for when the hit & possibly kill a US citizen. they don't need the car they need to go home & come back in the legal manner.
"...it limits their ability to get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back." I'm a bit confused. Isn't that what we ALL suffer when we are caught driving without a license? I never had a cop tell me that he didn't want to cause me any bother or inconvienience by actually punishing me for some infraction, especially one that would involve IMPOUNDING my car....what a message to send to LAW-ABIDING citizens!!
