My Father flew B-17G's in Europe. They were shot down once in occupied France and smuggled out to friendly lines and the crew flew the rest of their missions together. That was when the Air Force was known as the Army Air Corps. Dad is still alive and kicking! Told me that a lot of the fatalities was caused from rounds and flack coming from under the aircraft. So the crew fashioned protective "Butt Armor" and sat on that while under fire. My brother and I are thankful that they did! We are a blessed country. And men like my Dad kept us safe.

The least disciplined got the most medals of the second ww. How cool is that?
Never judge a book by the cover. Sometimes its crucial to color outside of the lines.

Yes indeed. Proper foresight and the right ammunition is the key.
