Delaware Road Improvements Continue While Maryland Does Nothing

Route 7, Newtown Road to Route 273 Road Improvements

Two-Year Project will widen and upgrade Route 7

Dover
-- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that Newark based contractor A-Del Construction Co., Inc. has been awarded a $5.9 million contract to widen Route 7 from Newtown Road to Route 273.

The project improvements include: the construction of a storm water management pond; the relocation of water, gas and sewer lines; the placing of drainage pipes, inlets and under drain pipe systems; and the construction of curb, gutter, and sidewalk. There will also be the construction of a mechanically stabilized earth wall, and the milling and reconstruction of roadway.

Construction for this project will start in April, and is anticipated to be completed within 607 calendar days. The contractor must adhere to plan notes that stipulate a 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. workday restriction. Specifically, two lanes of traffic must be maintained between the hours of 7 a.m. through 9 a.m., and from 3 p.m. through 5 p.m. During construction, there will be intermittent lane closures, however, no detours are anticipated at this time. Variable Message Boards notifying the traveling public will be set up two weeks prior to the start of construction.

I am so sick of Delaware's "road improvements! Rt 54 in between Roxanna area and Fenwick have been tied up for over a year and some of the businesses have lost alot of money. There was NOTHING wrong with the road the way it was. I think it's stimulus money given to DE maybe and the state money.

The Delaware road projects are paid for by the $141 million dollar stimulus package (federal) given to DE in exchange for your senators and congressman being good little democrats.

Complain about crappy roads, complain about crappy roads being fixed.

Same old song and dance.
