The Wicomico County Board of Education is seeking nominations for members to be appointed to the Family Leadership Council.
This committee is being formed to advise the Superintendent on long and short range issues of interest to the school system. We are seeking to form a council of approximately 35 members, representing our schools and various community groups. Of particular interest is having the members of the council represent the various populations in the school system.
Please feel free to nominate one or two people to be considered for the council who can speak for themselves on school issues and the perspectives of their sending groups.
Nominations - A 100-word biography per nominee should be sent to John E. Fredericksen, Superintendent of Schools. Nominations may be emailed to comments@wcboe.org, hand delivered to the Board Office at 101 Long Avenue, Salisbury, or mailed to Dr. John Fredericksen, ATTN: Family Leadership Council, WCBOE, PO Box 1538, Salisbury MD 21802.

John Fredericksen gets paid enough that he doesn't need a group of 35 people to "advise" him. This is nothing more than a hand picked group that will tell Fredericksen what he want's to hear. Thirty five people with family and friends will blossom out into a big enough group to promote John Fredericksen's agenda and scare tactics.
The best thing to do is to stay clear of John Fredericksen and allow the board the opportunity to deny his contract renewal.

This is the funniest thing I've read all day! 11:34 it the nail on the head. He will hand select the people on this committee who agree with his way of thinking. That's his M.O. Believe me nothing will get accomplished for the good of anyone except him.
Family Leadership Council? Has he ever heard of the school PTAs or the countywide PTA? There are already groups in place that tell him the truth and since he doesn't like it, he just creates another group that you have to be NOMINATED for so he can hand pick members under the guise of racial and ethnic balance. What a sham!
Please contact the WCBOE members and convince them not to renew Dr. Fredericksen's contract.

Normally I would be thrilled to be appointed to this type of committee, but I wouldn't take it now even if I was nominated for it!
Maybe those of us who have been terminated should apply.

Damn good idea...would be great to advise the superintendent!!! Nah, I would rather just sue them for their stupidity!
I agree that filing suit is a definate, but applying to serve on that committee would be oh so much more interesting. I wonder how many of us would actually be chosen? Or could this be another piece of a discriminataion suit!
He can't control PTA's. He thinks he can control this. Please email board members and end this travesty. He's taken enough of our time and attention. Let's hope we can heal our community.
So sick. Scare the #@#!? out of parents with the threat of a four day week and then ask them to serve on a family council. Gotta hand it to him for denial, he still thinks it's prestigious to be in his circle. We have a family leadership council--it's called the Wicomico County Council of PTA's. Parents, give yourself a voice and support the good guys.
