Romney Says He Pays About 15% In Income Tax

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said Tuesday that he pays taxes "close to the 15% rate" and that most of his income comes from investments.

Romney made the comments after a town hall meeting here and the day after a contentious debate in Myrtle Beach. In that debate, Romney said he "probably" would release his income tax return in April if he is the GOP nominee.

He actually believes that it is right, for people who actually work for their income, to pay a higher rate, elitist.

That has been my issue all along ... What does Sara, Faux News, et al define as "...hard working people."? Miners, loggers, commercial fishermen, construction workers, farmers ...? Raising taxes on the 1% would not affect those of us who WORK/labor for a "living".

This is what is wrong with America today, people are ignorant when it comes to finance/investing. Romney is drawing no salary at the time, all his money is coming in from investments. All capital gains is taxed at 15% no matter who it is! Capital gains taxes should be low as in encourages investing and saving which is great for the economy. Romney isn't trying to hide anything here. People need to start educating themselves and stop listening to big media and their lies. Stop listening to this class warfare crap! Don't worry what other people have and forge your own path!

If you would all do research you will find that the reasoning behind the 1% and the reasoning they want the 1% to pay more in taxes is:

A) The right thing to do seeing how the average income of middle class is between 20k and 40k... Not to mention that middle class taxes for income are 40% he pays 15%, I don't know about you but some math is wrong here...

B) The main reason is so that the other rich folks whom are not govt officials or their lackeys, would then to become poor so you will end up with 2 classes: Elite and other... elite being whom runs the govt or makes laws, and the other would be the middle class and poor class and slaves all in one...

The people in govt who are so sick in the head they should be shot, have views of one world govt or a one world order in which everything falls under one guideline... if you read the news and do research you will see hoe everything is going in that direction with all the mergers and such...

Again, please educate yourself on the different rates and taxable incomes so that you are comparing apples to apples. Everyone will pay 15% on capital gains from investments, Romney, you, me, black, white it doesn't matter who.

Why doesn't he release his tax returns NOW instead of waiting until April?
If he's waiting on his taxes to be done for 2011, why not go ahead and release the taxes for 2010?
Then, we'd all get to see what he REALLY pays in taxes, not just his "capital gains".
Seems to me the Republicans were shouting very loud about Democrats releasing tax returns awhile back.
Well, it works both ways, doesn't it?

9:53 and 10:29 comments are spot on. i agree totally because i am educated and understand how this works. note i said i'm educated; not necessarily rich; just educated. the two don't always go hand in hand.

romney also gives enormous amounts to his church and other organizations. by the way the latest study done on "who gives more; the conservatives or the libs". guess who gives the most; of course the conservatives. another part of that study was who gives the most; the rich or middle/poor. the middle/poor seemed to give the most. go figure. if you are conservative and are in any of the income brackets; you give the most. so there.

He pays taxes using the tax code we all use so what's the big deal? Sounds like more jealousy because nobody will pay to hear you speak...lol Try being a winner!
