Mitt Romney Threatened Pregnant, Unwed Mom With Excommunication, Book Claims

Mitt Romney once demanded that a single mom give up her baby for adoption or face excommunication from the church, according to excerpts from a new biography by two Boston Globe journalists.

Romney allegedly made the threat while serving as bishop of a Mormon congregation near Boston in the early 1980s, a passage in "The Real Romney," by Michael Kranish and Scott Helman, claims.

Vanity Fair published the excerpts in its February edition. The passage tells the story of Peggie Hayes, a divorcee and single mother of two, the second a son born out of wedlock.

I hate attacks on Religion. How can we have freedom of Religion if idiots like this are not called out. Fornication is absolutely a sin repentance of it can only be accomplished by giving up the ill gotten gain in this case the child. The alternative is excommunication which is a longer process of eventual forgiveness.

That secular humanism is not classified as a religion is stupid. It is Satan's religious teachings and should be recognized as such.

Romney went overboard and has said he will not apply church standards in any government position but as a Bishop he had to had he not that would be an issue. Not here where he did.
